Pikajane= pikachu + Jane. Get it? On my way to a used videogame store, People Play Games, off Belmont (Chicago). This photo was taken sometime in fall, when it was just starting to get cold here. A fashion blog photographer in Chicago approached me on the street, and asked for a shot. Here's the link to her image! [link]
I think it's funny how she mentions how my outfit "[doesn't] seem to have much to do with current fashion". I'll take that as a compliment!!! I wear thematic outfits all the time and dress up almost every day. It's great fun!
Here's some info on my outfit (for anyone who's interested): The shirt, purse and socks were all purchased at hottopic at various times. The hat was purchased at the Pokemon Journey Across America tour back in 2005, but it was originally from Pokepark, the traveling pokemon theme park. On my back is the newest incarnation of the pikachu backpack, which was purchased at a mall in Los Angeles. It is still relatively popular and easy to find in stores. I have 2 older versions of said character backpack, but wanted to wear my new one more. The red necklace was bought at Navy Pier, and the premier ball necklace came from the dealer's room at youmacon in 2010. The necklace is really cool because it can hold lollipops! I am wearing a yellow shirt underneath the pika shirt, and it is also a pikachu shirt because it has 2 brown stripes that were embroidered on the back. This was a gift from my sister who found it at a thrift store. The black 80s-esque blazer was obtained at a thrift store in Florida for only $2! The skirt was a gift from my sister, and the leggings were from wetseal. My converse have flames on them and I found them for only $6 at a salvation army.
Nice!!! So you too, are a connoisseur of hottopic pokemon products! It might be just me, but as of late I have not been interested in a lot of the pokemon products sold at hottopic. They used to make really cute designs on shirts and such but now it seems like all they do is plaster a pikachu on a shirt and sell it for $22. I miss the cute designs and clouds and rainbows and thunderbolts and stuff
