blue doodle WIP shots

Lately I have been trying out some new doodling methods. I've found this new method a lot of fun!!! Here are two WIP shots to show how I go about making these. They're not all that descriptive as to my process though, so I'll do my best to explain it below for those that might be interested.

As of recent, I've been filling pages of my sketchbook with stark geometric shapes. I decided on a whim to use one as inspiration for this piece. I then took the shape, re-drew it larger, and flipped it using tracing paper (I don't have a scanner at my apartment) so that it would be a symmetrical shape. The original shape I drew in my sketchbook was essentially half of the shape you see above. After creating the large shape, I put it under my lightbox and lightly drew it onto a page in my doodle sketchbook. Then I started having fun being experimental with the edge of the shape, as you can see above. From here on out, everything was done without any planning or meditation. After completing the contour, I thought it would be an interesting addition if I added holes of various forms in the shape. After that, I thought it would be fun to color. I was definitely correct in that assumption.
